Ethical and Environmental

Sound business ethics underpin our business and ensure we operate with integrity at all levels.  We have developed a comprehensive Code of Practice manual to help our suppliers understand the importance of sound Health and Safety practice linked to employee welfare at our manufacturing sites.

We have developed our own audit procedure, operated by our supply chain teams in both the U.K. and Hong Kong. This process is designed to advise, monitor and help implement and develop action plans for continuous improvement against agreed objectives.

We are registered as a B Member of SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), and are committed to continual improvement of Ethical Trading Standards in our production operations. Our SEDEX reference is ZC1013095.

For more details on SEDEX and what it means to be a member and how it could help your business please go to

As well as our SEDEX membership, our commitment to an ethically sound global supply chain is also demonstrated by the audits that we carry out with all of our key suppliers.

These audits are based on the 4 Pillars of SEDEX: Labour Standards, Health & Safety, The Environment and Business Ethics  (See more at:

SMETA , or to give it its full name ‘The Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit’ was developed by the Sedex Associate Auditor Group (AAG). This audit is designed to reduce duplication of effort in ethical trade auditing, benefitting  retailers, consumer brands, and their suppliers. It was developed in response to member demand for an ethical audit report format that could more easily be shared.

SMETA is not a code of conduct, a new methodology, or a certification process, but describes an audit procedure which is a compilation of good  practice in ethical audit technique

Our Audit reports are available to view via our SEDEX account.

Environmental Awareness

We are committed to working to improve the environmental impact of our business.

Cole Fabrics Plc has implemented energy efficient heating, lighting and IT systems in order to reduce its carbon footprint by as much as 24 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

Not only do we have available products made from recycled or biodegradable materials, but also at least 80% of our UK waste is reused.

Please ask about our Recycled and Biodegradable Ribbon product lines when you get in touch.

We are proud to support Rushcliffe Play Forum which is a local registered charity. Their aim is to support local people to be imaginative, inspiring, stimulated and motivated to create better and stronger communities. Cole Fabrics' donates materials on a weekly basis which are then made available to their Scrapstore members, providing affordable resources for arts and crafts.
